Tips for during the massage · If the massage is too light or too hard, it is appropriate to ask the massage therapist to alter the pressure. · If you are uncomfortable (need heat turned up, more or fewer blankets, light dimmed), please let the massage therapist know. · Tell the massage therapist where you hurt. This way the massage therapist can focus the massage where you need it most. · Breathing deeply can help you get the most out of a massage. Visualize the breath entering every cell of your body.
Tips for after the massage · Drink lots of water. This helps the body remove toxins that you were able to release during the massage. · Plan to take the first 20 minutes after a massage lightly. For example, go on a short walk or sit quietly. This allows the massage to settle into the body. · After some types of massage, a nice warm bath is very refreshing. A bath with 1/2 cup each of sea salt and baking soda helps the body to release the toxins brought to the surface by your massage. It is also a wonderful conditioner for your skin. |
